The play closes on the 36 pieces of art hung for the art reception moving together to form the image of a woman like Darius' portrait of a Japanese lady but composed of tiles of all sorts of different styles, from traditional to anime.

Closing on the note that no one is ever who they appear to be, the stage directions call for Utagawa's art to become a mixed media vision of Darius' portrait, making the reader or viewer wonder if anyone can ever know if any history they have ever read or heard is actually true.
