Who is John Powers from A Is for Alibi and what is their importance?

John Powers is Charlie Scorsoni's law partner. He also owns a beach house, two uncontrollable dogs, and a Black Lincoln. Although we never meet Powers over the course of the novel, he has a large part in the storyline.
