Kenny discovers that Larry Dunn is actually poor and he finds that out when Byron is beating up Larry anmd when he falls down Keny sees cardboard covering holes in the soles of his shoes
Kenny changes his perspective about Larry when he notices that Larry has cardboard inserts in his shoes to cover up the holes in the bottoms. Until this time he's thought that Larry was 'uppity' and needed to be taught a lesson. Now, he approaches Larry's actions from a different perspective and he is able to have some sympathy for him.
