What is the importance of extra-curricular activities in Emerson in 'The American Scholar'?

Extra-curricular activities are a very important aspect of the Emerson atmosphere. Not only are the Extra curricular activities are considered a ver important tool in the areas of self-trust and social skills building. The usual athletic activities are offered at Emerson; Soccer, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, etc, etc..., along with these; the Spanish club, the Arts club, debate team, and many other social programs are offered at Emerson to ensure the students are able to choose from a variety of different activities. The goal of these various clubs/activities is to better broaden the students horizons.
