How did Ravana win the Battle of the Heaven?

The gods were winning until Ravana’s son Meghanada brought darkness and illusion. When Airvata, Indra’s white elephant hurt Ravana, Meghanada captured Indra in illusions. This allowed the demons to plunder the gods, and it caused Meghanada to be called Indrajit, as the one who captured Indra.
