Why is Hamlet so cruel to Ophelia?

Gertrude's actions have left Hamlet feeling as if he's been betrayed by all woman-kind. His treatment of Ophelia is likely a direct result of his feelings about his mother. It isn't so much that Ophelia has done anything wrong, but that he no longer trusts women in general... Ophelia included.
