i dont think that the amount of saints or who they are really affect Dunstan character. Dunstan concentrates of the madonna at the beginning and this shoes his obsession with Mary Dempster and his guilt over her 'Insanity', the other saints are just 'coincidences' that Robertson Davis uses to get Dunstan in the right place at the right time.
