She thinks she is, but she's not sure. She's seen and understands some of the good and bad dynamics that can go along with being a 'woman'. She's had several examples of both good and bad. She is partly afraid and partly curious. Sometimes she is simply angry that time is pulling her forward without her consent and she has no choice but to grow up. Other times, she is ready for it because she believes that it will lead to her eventual freedom from the houses of Mango street.
