Objective

The objective of this lesson to have students understand the Trump family and its members who visit Donald Trump in the White House. Students will identify the relationship between the several family members mentioned. The author indicates that the family members do not feel comfortable with each other and communication is frequently strained.

Lesson

Class Discussion: Who is Mary Trump? How is she related to Donald Trump? Whose birthdays are being celebrated? Who are the other people who gather to celebrate the aunts' birthdays? How are they related to each other and to Donald Trump and Mary?

Small Group Activity: Divide the students into small groups and ask students to discuss the character of three of the Trump family members. What information do they have of them? What do they think of them? What does Mary think of them? Do they agree with Mary's viewpoint?
