Fun Classroom Activities

The 20 enjoyable, interactive classroom activities that are included will help your students understand the text in amusing ways. Fun Classroom Activities include group projects, games, critical thinking activities, brainstorming sessions, writing poems, drawing or sketching, and more that will allow your students to interact with each other, be creative, and ultimately grasp key concepts from the text by "doing" rather than simply studying.

1. Survival in the Woods

Mimicking Lucy's experience of being lost in the woods, students embark on a outdoor orienteering course (preferably at a facility specializing in them). Before leaving, students should first gather the supplies they will need (map, compass, food, etc), and discuss how they would survive if stranded in the woods.

2. Hiding Places

Individually or in groups, students go to their favorite outdoor spots and document an afternoon spent in this location via video, journals, and so on.
