In the interview, Lapham shares that he was born to a poor family and grew up on a farm in Vermont. This lesson will discuss Hubbard's interview with Lapham and its importance for the information it reveals about Lapham's background and his values. Lapham believes the Christian values his parents raised him with helped make him a success and these values will bring Lapham into conflict with other characters as the novel progresses.
