Objective

Set in Earth's future, this story begins with the effort being made to terraform the planet Quraqua, one of the three planets capable of population.

The objective of this lesson is to examine the correlation between the efforts being made to terraform Quraqua and its relation to reality here on Earth now.

Lesson

1) Initiate a class discussion surrounding the subject of leaving Earth and beginning a new civilization elsewhere. What are the similarities between this story line, and the realities our Earth faces?

2) Break the class into groups and continue discussing the efforts our astronomical society are making towards finding a suitable planet for our species. What are the most recent efforts being made? How close are we?

3) In short essay form, examine some of the more obvious problems associated with a relocation of any kind by our species. What hurdles must still be overcome?
