Fun Classroom Activities

The 20 enjoyable, interactive classroom activities that are included will help your students understand the text in amusing ways. Fun Classroom Activities include group projects, games, critical thinking activities, brainstorming sessions, writing poems, drawing or sketching, and more that will allow your students to interact with each other, be creative, and ultimately grasp key concepts from the text by "doing" rather than simply studying.

1. Self-portrait

Draw Helmut as he is described when he takes his individual photo.

2. Black and white/ Color

Have each student take a photo of the hometown and develop 2 sets, one in black and white and the other in color. Display as a collage in the room.

3. Visit a museum

Visit a Holocaust museum or memorial. Write a summary on YOUR experience, NOT the history of the Holocaust.

4. Family tree

Design and fill in a personal family tree.
