Daily Lessons

This section contains 30 daily lessons. Each one has a specific objective and offers at least three (often more) ways to teach that objective. Lessons include classroom discussions, group and partner activities, in-class handouts, individual writing assignments, at least one homework assignment, class participation exercises and other ways to teach students about the text in a classroom setting. Lesson 1

Objective: Book 1, Part 1: In Chapter 2 of Book 1, the author compares various social hierarchies. This lesson focuses on those comparisons and the points that the author is trying to make with them.

1) 1. Before class, write the following phrase on the board: What is a social hierarchy? Have the students free-write their answers and discuss them with the class. Create a class definition. (read more)
