Essay Topic 1

Honesty is a trait that is scarcely found in the older characters in Prey. Jack is an honest man while Julia is a dishonest woman. The same goes for Mae and Ricky. Write an essay exploring the ideas of honesty and truth. How does honesty play into the plot of the story? Which characters are the most truthful, open, and honest? Which are the least truthful? Which are the most secretive? Why? Could being honest have saved the lives of some of the characters in Prey? Why or why not? Provide specific examples from the text to support your position.

Infidelity plays a major role in the protagonist's life in Prey. Jack thinks that Julia is having an affair from the beginning of the story. He has no concrete evidence and yet he is nearly positive that something strange is going on. Write an essay explaining the reasons why Jack thinks that Julia is having an affair.
