This represents the townspeople who honor and respect the king and the gods with odes that reveal both a strong attachment to the king as well as a grounding in religious culture.


This character is the brother of the former king, who has been sent on a mission to the Oracle of Apollo at Delphi, and who returns with its news during the prologue. The present king seems to distrust this character who brings the news that the king must find the murderer of his predecessor.


This character is the present ruler's spouse, previously married to the former ruler. Though this character doesn't realize it at first, this person is also the present ruler's parent.
