Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Characters

Ferdinand Bardamu - This character, who became a doctor, is based on the author, who combines an analytical perspective with real empathy for people's sufferings and refuses to accept pay from the poor.

Leon Robinson - This character does not hide a penchant for pure self-interest, evidenced by paid murder attempts and an abrupt dismissal of the person to whom this character was engaged.
