Sara Farizan is an Iranian American writer of Young Adult fiction. She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. If You Could Be Mine was published in 2014 and won several awards including the Lambda Literary Award. The novel stemmed from Farizan's own struggle with her sexuality as a teen.
