Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Jessie - This character, who is the mother of the three siblings in the play, died years before the play begins.

Joey - The youngest sibling who has hopes of becoming a professional boxer.

Lenny - This character, a pimp with a string of prostitutes, attempts to dominate his sibling's spouse.

MacGregor - A ruffian friend of the head of the household, this character had a "close relationship" with the retired butcher's spouse.

Max - This seventy year-old character is head of the household and is a shrewd, crude, brutish retired butcher.
