Envelope of Cash

This object symbolizes a lack of trust. When Evvie is getting ready to leave Tim at the start of the narrative, she puts this object into the glove compartment as the narrator states, "This part might be silly" (3) and that she may not need this object. However, her repeated use of qualifiers suggests that she does not trust Tim not to engage in actions that would require her to resort to using this object.
