Short Essay Questions
The 60 short essay questions listed in this section require a one to two sentence answer. They ask students to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the text. Students must describe what they've read, rather than just recall it.
Short Essay Question - Act 1
1. Explain the story behind Kath's son.
2. Describe the character of Sloane. How old is he? What is his appearance like?
3. List an example (or two) of subtext in the play. What are the character's words and what is implied by them?
4. Who is Kemp? What is his relationship to Kath and Ed? How old is he?
5. What happens 20 years ago between Ed and Kemp? What is their relationship now because of it?
