Objective

Objective: In Earth Abides, Isherwood does several things that help him to survive. He keeps himself busy, seeks out other people, and takes care of his needs. Oftentimes, the ideas and beliefs that a person holds can affect their chances of survival in a difficult situation. The objective of this lesson is to cause students to think about what characteristics Ish has that help him to survive when it would be easy to go crazy or to run into trouble. 1) Individual: Invent a scenario similar to the one Ish's, but base it on the city in which you and your students are living.
