Object Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. Objects

Ballston - This is the town in Virginia where Florence's family homestead was and where Mama was raised.

Washington, D.C. - Florence was born and raised in this city where Mama moved with Herb after they got married.

Park Road - This location was where Mama and Herb set up house in a 2-bedroom apartment, and where the family was evicted in January 1941.

1020 Monroe - Florence's family moved to a 2-bedroom apartment at this location after being evicted in January 1941.
