· The narrator hates the Bunnies.

· The Bunnies are a group of four women in the narrator’s MFA program; the women all refer to one another as “Bunny.”

· The narrator spent the last academic year praying that each of the Bunnies would somehow implode; that their constant girlish hugging of one another would “cause the flesh to ooze” from their pristine outfits (13).

· She watches them now with Ava, the two of them drinking champagne in the far corner of the tented green at Warren University.

· They are attending the Narrative Arts department’s annual welcome back Demitasse.

· Ava and the narrator refer to Warren University as the Lair of Cthulhu; Cthulhu is a giant squid monster invented by a horror writer who “went insane and died here” (13).
