Object Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. Objects

Mymensingh District - Is the region where Nazneen and her sister Hasina were born in northern Bangladesh.

Tower Hamlets - Is the name of the London community where Nazneen and Chanu live with other Bangladeshi immigrants.

Gouripur - Is the name of the village in which Nazneen was born. In London, she often daydreams of it and the simple life they had there.

Ice-Skating - Nazneen sees this for the first time on British television. She is mesmerized by the sport and she often pretends that she is one of the stars.
