Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Abdul Medani - This character is an Army Captain working for the security forces, but who gives anonymous tips by phone to help the fugitive escape.

Adamma - This character is saved from being raped while on a bus trip.

Agatha - A flighty, religious, and judgmental house servant.

Elewa - The girlfriend of one of the main characters, this character is semi-literate and works in a textile shop. Although from humble origins, she is resilient and self-confident.
