Character Descriptions

Characters

David Pelzer - This individual is a happy four-year-old, until his mother takes up drinking and begins abusing him. He grows up to be a respectable leader in his community and a loving father.

Mother, Catherine Roerva - This person is kind, gentle, energetic and an excellent cook. She becomes depressed and tyrannical as time progresses.

Father, Stephen Joseph - This man is a fireman in San Francisco who works twenty-four hour shifts. He is rarely at home and avoids the problems of his wife and son.
