1. Describe the scene in the prologue when the shooting starts.
The members of the church are leaving choir practice. The pastor, Aaron Winslow, hears gun shots and begins to have the children drop to the ground. When the shooting is over he looks around and believes that everyone is safe. He is amazed and then finds that one person has been hit, a little girl named Tasha who was only eleven, lays dead.
2. What happens in chapter one while Lindsay is playing cards at Hope Street?
Lindsay is playing cards with underage troubled youth. One of the girls, only sixteen, has a baby in her lap when a woman from child services comes to take the child. The young girl takes a glass and breaks it threatening the woman saying that they will not take her child. Lindsay is able to diffuse the situation and the child is taken with the understanding that the mother gets to visit the child often.
