Power of Jealousy

Jealousy has an overwhelming negative effect on people. We can see that jealousy destroys many other lives besides the life of the jealous person. Nothing good ever comes out of jealousy, and it only complicates relationships.

Waldo is extremely jealous of Shelby, and tries to guard Laura against Shelby's advances as well as those of every other man. He believes that since he cannot have her that no one else is good enough or deserves to have her either. Waldo's jealousy eventually leads him to murder Diane Redfern when he sees silhouettes through the window and believes that Laura has lied, stayed home, and is with Shelby. Waldo's jealousy destroys everyone's lives including Diane's.
