Description

Mortimer Brewster is a famous, wealthy critic. Everywhere he goes, people recognize him and try to show him their own plays. He tries to avoid the conversations, but most people simply won't let him get away from his job.

When the audience first meets Mortimer, he is with Elaine getting a marriage license. After recently writing a book on the difficulties and horrors of marriage, he can't believe that he's actually agreed to get married now. However, he has fallen madly in love with Elaine and can't help himself.

Mortimer is from a crazy family. Insanity runs rampant in their relatives, but Mortimer believes that his aunts have avoided this horror until he finds out that they kill people. When his cruel brother, Jonathan, shows up,.....
