Summary:   Acid Rain is an extensive term used to describe the way acid falls out of the atmosphere. In a much more precise term, it is Acid Deposition, which has two different parts, wet or dry.

Acid Rain is an extensive term used to describe the way acid falls out of the atmosphere. In a much more precise term, it is ¡§Acid Deposition¡¨, which has two different parts, wet or dry.

Wet is when the acid comes on the ground through fog, rain or snow. How much damage these factors cause mainly depends on the amount of acid contained. They affect the living beings on land and water.

The acid effects the soil, as the rain gets absorbed into the ground changing the PH of the soil and releasing otherwise insoluble aluminium, washing into streams and lakes. Aluminium causes problems with the gills of fish preventing them from getting enough oxygen, and because of this, the fish die; causing the problem throughout the underwater food chain.
