Leonardo Da Vinci and the Bicycle

Summary:   Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is considered one of the greatest artists and scientists ever to step foot on our planet. For a man of such extraordinary brilliance and caliber, Leonardo Da Vinci also has his fair share of interesting controversies, such as his claim to have invented the bicycle. Leonardo Da Vinci was not the actual inventor of bicycle, as will be shown through research, literature review and concrete examples.


Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is considered one of the greatest artists and scientists ever to step foot on our planet. His abilities and capabilities were so great and yet at the same time so varied that he is still regarded with utmost admiration and awe even about five centuries after his death. His paintings, scientific discoveries and inventions astound artists, historians and scientists alike. For a man of such extraordinary brilliance and caliber, Leonardo Da Vinci also has his fair share of interesting controversies. Just to name a few, many throughout history has debated over his sexual orientation, religious beliefs and authenticity and credibility of some of his inventions.
