How Women's Lives Changed During World War I

Summary:   Essay about the type of work women did to help the war effort, the various dangers they faced and the rights they gained as a result of performing these services during World War I.


What type of work did women do to help the war effort"

They did different and important work during the war.

By one hand, they did works relationated with war such as: equipment for soldiers, working in munitions factories(guns, shells, grenades, bullets, weapons...).

By the other hand, they also worked as nurses in associations as Voluntary Aid Detachments(V.A.Ds) and also their work was vital for the war because Germans submarines were preventing ships from food to Britain.

One quarter of a million worked on the land, the greatest increase of women workers on engineering, 700.000 worked in dangerous industries, nearly 200.000 women were employed to Government department and half a million as clerical workers in private offices.
