The Industrial Revolution: Effects
The Industrial Revolution affected the entire world. It revolutionized how people lived and how people worked. It made way for new jobs, and also closed certain occupations. The Industrial Revolution increased output of machine-made goods that began in England during the late 1700's. The Industrial Revolution influenced economic and social life of the people of England both negatively and positively.
Although the Industrial Revolution provided England with great wealth, there was a price that had be to be paid for it. As William Cooper's testimony, "We began at five in the morning and stopped at nine in the night," illustrates very harsh child labor. Children had to work more than 12 hours a day and were rarely ever fed. Children began work as early as children today begin school, at the age of six or seven (Doc. 1).
