In a certain period in history, innovations and technology grew in such a rapid pace to have become known as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was an era of climactic change; the world saw a rapid growth of new innovations and permutations, and products that were mass-produced by the use of machinery. This period of rapid growth in technology fueled and molded the Civil War to be a landmark and milestone of modern wars.

Shoes fitted for each foot, canned foods and sewing machines all reflected the modification and alterations of the Civil War. Though soldiers still encountered hardships such as diseases and unsanitary living conditions and lifestyles, new innovations made the Civil War distinguishable from previous wars.
