There are many reasons a divorce affects children negatively. Children may fear being abandoned when approval and love from both parents are not given. The divorce can cause kids to feel loss of attachment when they have to adjust to a different schedule.

Another negative effect is children will see the hostility between parents. Parents should minimize their conflict around the children. Divorce can change children's lives and can cause fear of abandonment, loss of attachment, and hostility between parents.

Both parents should let children know they still love them so they will not fell abandoned.
