There is a variety of books to choose for the learners of the English language. One of the most useful is a translation dictionary, which is very informative and up-to-date as it is based on the British National Corpus. The two dictionaries of the Oxford University Press: Illustrated and Advanced Learner's, use this database. We compare the entries of these two dictionaries: the form, the content and the combinability of a word.

Mass media's influence has become more negative in the last ten years due to the increase of violence portrayed. Both journalistic and tabloid newspapers have their own presentation of crime news, which differ greatly. The yellow press often embellish the crime news using glamorising terms so that the reports become exciting crime stories.

In the "Cultural Implication for Translation" by Kate James, the author describes the difficulty in translating text from one language to another. Part of the difficulty is translating words that have significance in one culture, but different or no meaning in another. Problems particularly arise when the two languages involved are dissimilar.
