The Fountains of Silence OverviewIn Ruta Sepetys' novel, The Fountains of Silence, Ana Morena is an employee at an elegant hotel when Daniel Matheson and his family visit Madrid in the summer of 1957. Ana and Daniel form an immediate connection. However, they are unable to act on their feelings. By the time that Daniel and his parents leave Madrid a few weeks later, Daniel's father (Martin) has closed an oil deal. Additionally, his parents have adopted a beautiful baby girl, Christina.
