The City of Shifting Waters (Valerian) Overview
Mezieres and Christin's Valerian and Laureline: The City of Shifting Waters, is a graphic novel covering the space and time travels of two heroes, Valerian and Laureline, as they try to capture Xombul, an evil villain who is trying to rewrite the earth's history. Valerian and Laureline, who are from centuries in the future, fight off a gang of thieves in 1986 as tsunamis and earthquakes make the earth an inhospitable wasteland. The story's themes are good versus evil, the quest for power, and the role of the sidekick.
