Catching Fire Overview

Catching Fire is the second book in the critically acclaimed Hunger Games trilogy. After winning the Hunger Games in the previous book, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark learn that their defiance of the Capitol at the end of the Games has incited rebellion in certain districts throughout Panem. Although Katniss initially tries to subdue the rebellion by behaving on her "Victory Tour" and agreeing to marry Peeta publicly, she soon finds out that she and Peeta will both have to return to the arena and face death a second time during the Quarter Quell - a special version of the Hunger Games where victors from each district must return and fight to the death.
