Mirabel has a neurological disorder. Confined to a wheelchair, she is unable to feed or dress herself or tend to other daily needs. Since Mirabel is unable to speak, she uses an app on a tablet to communicate. She is able to communicate some messages to her sisters and mother without the tablet.
