The school bus is the only place Bri feels she can safely be herself. At home she often feels on edge, constantly under her mother's watch and surrounded by reminders of her family's financial difficulties. At school she feels invisible or targeted by teachers and peers. On the bus, however, Bri is amongst friends, able to converse with Sonny, Malik, and Curtis with honesty and openness.
