Italian mathematician who spent most of his life teaching mathematics at the University of Mantua—a post he obtained through his employer, the Duke of Mantua. He was the author of four works: Concerning Straight Lines (1678), A Short Mathematical Work (1682), The Geometry of Motion (1692), and Concerning Money Matters (1711). The latter is considered one of the earliest works ever published on mathematical economics. There is also a geometry theorem bearing his name that concerns lines intersecting at a common point when they are drawn through triangle vertices.
