American electrical engineer and pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) who is considered the "father" of expert systems technology. The knowledge-based applications of AI have enhanced productivity in business, science, engineering, and the military. In addition to his work as a professor of computer science at Stanford University, Feigenbaum was a co-founder of three firms in applied AI—IntelliCorp, Teknowledge, and Design Power Inc.—and served as Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force from 1994 to 1997.
