There are many reforms during this time period, because America was starting over from scratch as a country. Many people wanted America to help them like women wanted to vote and men wanted what would benefit them weather they were farmers or wealthy land owners. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Horace Mann, Elizabeth Stanton.

Dorothea Dix helped the mentally ill, she went to a prison and saw mentally ill in the jail and she knew that it was wrong to put the mentally ill in with the evil people in jail.
