Summary: Do dialects have a worthwhile role in our modern language in addition to standard English, or should they be discouraged? Using standard English makes communication between countries easier and technological advances greater. However, the acceptance of dialects would promote racial tolerance and give everyone a sense of uniqueness and a sense of patriotism.

This is the question that I intend to answer in the following essay. First let's get a few things clear, Standard English is the dialect of English that is used when speaking in formal situations and normally when writing. It is the dialect that is understood throughout the English speaking world. Dialects on the other hand are a different form of English used by people from different areas and different groups, it is vital to understand that dialect is NOT inferior to Standard English but simply different.
