Summary: Meursaults character forms in our mind as ananoying, careless yet honest individual whose own honesty and tendency to tell the truth brings him to his own downfall. Meursault simply speaks the truth, and speaks his thoughts which almost each and everyone of us has, yet we still cover them up and lie to make the situation turnout well and get off easy and without any consequences.
The truth is not always the right thing, under some circumstances saying what may please others would be the better option. In the beginning of the novel we first get a glimpse of Meusault as an insensitive and careless individual that would not even cry at his own mothers funeral, this perception of the character stays with us up until the end but it changes when we get an insight into his mind, and his way of looking at his life.
