Rwandan Genocide

Summary: The 1994 genocide had an immense affect on the citizens of Rwanda, and is known in history as the remarkable (though horrific) event in history when the ration between time and amount of death was bypassed. The Rwandan genocide is widely recognized as an extreme failure of the international community to protect people at risk of mass scale atrocities.
The Rwandan genocide was across the span of 100 days. It occurred in 1994, commencing on April 6th and coming to a close in mid July.

The Tutsi villages were targeted and destroyed, churches and schools demolished, all Tutsi people within sight killed.

Though it has been titled as a political movement, there was barely any difference between the two peoples. The only difference was that one group was farmers and the other cattle farmers.

An attack on two Tutsi presidents was fuel for the genocide because of the fact that the Tutsi people chose to blame the Hutu people for the attack without any real evidence. The killing started that evening.

The people mainly killing were the Hutus and the Hutu militias. Two extremist Hutu militias were Interhamwe and Impuzamugambi. For this people will say that the blame is to be placed on the ones killing, but just as bad are the people who didn't serve as aid or intervene.

The many perpetrators are now in various prisons.

In conclusion we would like to say that this genocide had an immense affect on the citizens of Rwanda, and is known in history as the remarkable (though horrific) event in history when the ration between time and amount of death was bypassed. The Rwandan genocide is widely recognized as an extreme failure of the international community to protect people at risk of mass scale atrocities.
