Summary: Space exploration had a significant and lasting impact on the development of the United States of America. Such exploration pioneered new technology, advanced the United States in the space race, and expanded the U.S. space program.

Humans have had tremendous curiosity about space since the beginning of time. But the space age only began when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik. It was the first of its kind to orbit the earth, therefore winning the space race in favor of the soviets (Oberg 694). Space Exploration had a significant and lasting impact on the development of the United States of America because it pioneered new technology, advanced the United States in the space race, and expanded the space program.
