Jesus was called Jesus of Nazareth, or Jesus the Nazarene and is the central figure in Christianity but to most he is Jesus Christ (Christ meaning "Anointed One") and the savior of the people, the Messiah. He is also mentioned quite frequently as an important prophet in Islam.

Jesus was born to a virgin, Mary, who was to be married to Joseph, a carpenter. Mary was visited by an angel by the name of Gabriel who told her that she was chosen to give birth to the Son of God.
